The Grand Illusion, Jean Renoir
I found this film interesting as a commentary on the class difference between ranks and it similarities to newer films about prisoners of war and POW camps. As well as commenting in war itself, the way it can be decreased in meaning when two men from opposing sides converge in the way two characters in this film do. They are not so different, and neither are any of the other soldiers.
